I am a Licensed Psychologist who specializes in individual therapy for older adolescents and adults. A native of San Antonio, I completed my undergraduate degree in Psychology at the University of Texas at Austin, followed by an M.A. and Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Texas Women’s University.
Following the completion of my coursework, I completed a one-year APA-approved clinical internship with the Dallas Metropolitan Consortium in Psychology where I gained extensive experience providing psychotherapy to diverse populations at the UT Dallas and SMU counseling centers. Following the internship, I completed a two-year postdoctoral fellowship in women’s mental health at Women’s Mental Wellness in Dallas, where I received advanced training in pregnancy and postpartum concerns. I also have extensive experience working with women and couples experiencing fertility concerns and infant loss.
My therapeutic approach places great emphasis on the importance of the therapeutic relationship. Clients can sometimes feel vulnerable as they describe the difficulties they face. This is why I work to foster a safe and non-judgmental environment where my clients can feel heard and understood. I am sensitive to diversity and treat my clients as individuals based on the uniqueness of their experiences. Further, I believe self-awareness is essential to change and I encourage this process through emotional exploration and behavioral and relational awareness.
